The club

In the late 1960s the protracted negotiations for the amalgamation of our predecessor clubs; Medway Wheelers, Medway Road Club (which combined the former Chatham Cycling Club, and Gillingham Cycling Club in 1929) and Rochester Velo Club Olympique, came to fruition and in January 1968 Medway Velo Club was born, bringing together the heritage of cycling clubs across Rochester, Chatham, and Gillingham. Medway Velo having also been the name of a previous club in the towns.

The first 50 years of Medway Velo has seen the club flourish, and become the largest cycling club in the towns, and with a membership living across Medway, Maidstone, North Kent, and Swale.

With a rich heritage of top time trialists such as Ken Joy and international road riders such as Geoff Wiles amongst our previous members, we continue to enjoy a wide range of competitive and touring activities.

Being an inclusive club is at the heart of what we do.

See you out on the road soon.
